Hace que la persona presente anomal\u00edas f\u00edsicas y retraso mental y social, aunque existen diferentes niveles de gravedad. Todo esto puede generar diversos problemas a lo largo de su crecimiento.<\/p>\n<p>Recibe su nombre por John Langdon Haydon Down, un m\u00e9dico brit\u00e1nico que en 1866 describi\u00f3 por primera vez las caracter\u00edsticas cl\u00ednicas, aunque desconoc\u00eda las causas.
